CHARGE Headshots

A few years back, I was commissioned by a couple of incredibly creative young ladies to work on character designs and a few promotional pages for their budding comic project entitled CHARGE.

These headshots are of the title's main character, Jamie, donning the mask that transforms her into the electrifying superheroine known as CHARGE.

I really enjoyed coming up with the different masks. I also found that it's a huge challenge to draw the same character's face from different angles, with different expressions AND masks, and keep it all consistent. I know I have room for improvement there, but I'm working on it.

I also plan on inking and coloring these. Just for the fun of it. : )

Mr. Bellows

I just hope I didn't go too Hellboyish on this one.

This is another rough sketch from The Great Undisclosed Project I am currently working on alongside my comrades Erik Van Buren and Dane Caro.

Without giving too much away, we are thinking about using this guy as a boss character. My line of thinking is that he'd be able to toss the main character into his fiery furnace belly, roasting him or her alive. The smoke plumes would then issue from his earstacks. Something like that.

Still, more on the way.

The Serratix

This one isn't easy on the eyes. He's more apt to gouging them.

This is a very rough character sketch from a currently undisclosed project that I have been collaborating on along with my good compatriots Erik Van Buren and Dane Caro. It's a pretty big deal. It's so classified that, in fact, you should probably stop looking at this right about... now...

Erik wanted to brainstorm on some really evil silhouette robots, so this is one of the designs that emerged from my end of the sketch pool. It was a lot of fun to play with the solid shapes. It's been a while since I've worked like that.

More to come soon.

The Supe Squad

Um, yeah. This one's just me being goofy. I apologize. It's another illo for Erik's coloring book. I created these characters too. They're sort of the F-Troop of the superhero pantheon.

Teek Punch

This is Teek, the resident big bruiser of The Medicine Men. At a local poolside watering hole, Teek was rudely interrupted from his savory piƱa colada by a certain colorful tropical drink mascot. That was when Teek decided to turn around and give him a punch of his own...

The Medicine Men

This is a faux comic cover I did for my good friend Erik Van Buren and (deep breath) The Baton Rouge Cartoonist Society's Red Stick Animation Festival 2010 Coloring Book. They are characters of my own devising. It's just in sketch form because Erik was gracious enough to agree to ink it. I do, however, plan on making my own refined, and possibly color, version of it soon. The finished results will be posted at strickart.deviantart.com.

Intro.

Hi.

Welcome to (stricksketch).

This site will act as an incubator for whatever rough ideas I currently have in the works. From stream of consciousness doodlings to illustration projects amidst the struggles of being refined, I'll post the findings here. Enjoy.
